Hi!

I have an Athlon64 3800+ with 1 GB Corsair CMX512-3200C2Pro (2x 512 MB) on an Asus A8N-SLI and would like to upgrade my memory to 2 GB.

I am thinking about getting the Corsair TWINXP1024-3200C2 which should be no problem because the speed and timings are identical.

If I pay a little more, I can get the Corsair TWINX20483500LLPRO (2x 1 GB). Speed and timings are are different. Will this cause problems?
My system would then have 3 GB. Can this cause problems, e.g. too
much RAM may slow my system down?

Many thx!

In most cases that I heard, when all 4 slots of mem are populated the memory speeds can just down to ddr333 instead of ddr400. This would cause a slowdown. As well when the 4 slots are taken it usually forces a 2T command rate which slows it even more. Your best bet would be to hold on the the 2x512 sticks for something else and just get the 2x1gb for your machine.
