I just ran 3DMark05 for the 3rd time trying to figure out why I'm gettin such a low score. The VGA Charts shows my card getting 5925 Stock. I just ran it stock and got 5525. I ran it last night also with it overclocked to 560/600 and got 5962. Slightly over the vga charts stock score.

Im not sure whats wrong here but I am not happy. Btw. The temp never goes over 70. So i cant see temp being a problem

Any suggestions?

Card - Sapphire X850 XT Stock 520/540

Don't quote me on this, but I think tomshardware.com used extremely high-end processors for the test. So, instead of using a X850 XT and 3700+ like you have, tomshardware.com might have used a X850 XT and FX-60...

That's what I have always thought, anyways.

As far as I know, CPU score on 05 doesn't get counted BUT, the fact that the gfx tests still utilize the CPU some means that yes the CPU is helping. Now the thing with your system is your running value ram too. probably cas 2.5 or maybe even cas 3. This will also affect it.

It's funny cuz my 3200+ AMD 754 pin 1MB L2 along with my 1gig 2-3-3-6 and 6800GT at stock scores 5100, whereas that chart says I should be getting 4900 but with a much faster CPU....

I can't get your scores though overclocked, i get about 5500.

06 definately includes the CPU score in it though.

Yeah i dunno its weird.

Their test systems are probably completely bare, 100% unfragmented, new install of windows, no background processes running, etc. Also is your ram running dual channel? (Make sure your up to date on drivers, dx version, etc)

Set catalyst settings to performance under both direct3D and openGL. That will give you your 400 or so points. The difference the 4000 vs 3700 is about 50 points on your graphics score.

listen and dont worry about that 3dmark2005 uses pixel shader 3.0 for its test and you know that your graphic card (x850 xt) doesnt support shader model 3.0 so it could not get a good score on it i have read it in an article a few weeks ago.for example you see that x850 xt is like 6800gt (their power is nearly the same)but 6800gt got better scores on 3dmark05. but dont worry all new games today like ageofempire 3 or call of duty 2 uses pixel shader that is under 3.0. and its graphic and performance is great with x850 xt. i have x800 xt 256 and i also got low score but the fps in most of games is great with it.for example if you test your card with 3dmark03 you will get really great score in it but you see that other cards that provide pixel shader 3.0 get a lower score like 6800gs.so dont worry about that!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What do you expect with a single core CPU, 1GB of Value RAM, and a year old videocard? That's actually a very good 3DMark05 score for your setup.

You cant have exact same scores. Go to 3dmark and compare scores there with similar systems and stop being so obsessive, you did reach close to toms score already.

Well it could also be the drivers. ive also a X850XT ,

well now I use the 6.3 drivers then i get 5900 marks or more..

when i used the 6.6 drivers i got 5400 marks!,

so it could be the drivers ..

and what drivers do you use?
