Hello all,

I have recently gotten a Sapphire X1900XTX 512mb vid card and I understand that when in "2D Mode" that the cards slow themselves down, I just dont know how much, so when in windows it should be slowed or (underclocked) correct? If so can you guys check and see what yalls temps are in the CCC. I just want to c if mine is where it should be at cause it seems low.

my speeds when I check CCC are 500/594 (core/mem)!

P.S. For all of you overclockers out there, what programs are you using for OC'ing...any links for downloads of the programs would be great!

Thank you all in advance for your help!

Hey man, I'm running this same exact card and it looks like it's running at 500/594 in 2D mode just like yours. The card does speed up when you run a 3D program such as a game. You can tell by the fan speed. It cranks up slightly. Not overclocking any currently

Another note is that my 3Dmark06 score seems to be alittle low, that may be do to my processor limiting me, im not sure!

Current Spec: Antec NeoHE 550w PS
Gigabyte GA-K8N Pro
AMD Athlon 3700+ Sandy - "Arctic Freezer 64"
2gb (2x1gb) Patriot Performance Memory (2.5-3-2-5)
Sapphire X1900XTX 512mb
(2x120gb WD SATA HD's) - Raid 0

everything is stock, my mobo wont let me OC past 2.32ghz so I dont even worry about it.

My score was 4150 and that just seems low to me...anyone else have scores similar?!? lets here what ya got!!!

I don't think your CPU is slowing you down any. Make sure that when you run 3DMark, that your settings in ATI Control Panel/ Control Center is set to performance or let the application decide. I had my settings all on max on my X850XT PE and was hitting 5200ish in 3Dmark05, I changed all the settings to let the application decide, and it went up to 6800ish in 3DMark05.

Well, seeing that you reposted, I'll re-reply:

Well, I'd recon that in DOS you have alot of functionality taken away. So DOS just gives basic (low level) alteration. Mind, it isn't actually the DOS I grew up on - that's why I never refer to the command line as DOS.

If you'd like to test your cards Volts/Mhz/Ghz etc - get both of these : AtiTool and ATi Tray Tools (both from Guru3d.com and make sure you get the latest Tray tools as they fully support the 1900 range of cards). These tools are supreme and I prefer Tray Tools above ATiTool - due to the OSD setting where you can show core/temp/memory/fan speed in game. It also has graphs, which allows you to trend your GPU/Temp etc. You can use this to confirm that your card is switching in frequencies.

As far as 3dmark06 goes, I think the initial release didn't include support for 1900 cards which weren't out by then. So maybe an update will resolve this.

Yes, the 1900 throttles in 2d mode. In 3d games which require more oompf, the clock will increase to 650/1500. Please note, that not all games will switch to higher frequencies, as they don't require all the power. So, in Windows 2d mode you will run 500/600(1200)mhz approx, in games such as FEAR and Oblivion you'll run at 650/1500(750)mhz approx.

Your idle temps should be 50-52C and load up to 80C if you use custom fans settings - otherwise expect 90C in game.
