This maybe a silly question but apart from not having to continually
install the CD4 what's the difference between the fs9.exe (the 9.1
version) from MS and the others from the various NOCD fs9.exes which are
available?
To be a bit more specific, the original from MS is 1362k,
From flyawaysimulation its 223.08k and from simradar.com it's 504k
There has to be a loss of some function or something,in the NOCD
versions are that much smaller than the original. I can't see any
differences in operation, and it doesn't take around a MB in coding to
check if the CD is installed???
Anybody else noticed this - or have an explanation ?

Thanks and regards, Lindsay.

The 504K size is as it should be. The 223K is the 504K file zipped.
Everything necessary is there. The removed code are the SafeDisc
copy-protection routines which insure that the CD is not only in the drive
but that it's an original - or a very good copy :) .

Thanks a lot, that's what I suspected but couldn't see any reason for
800k to check the CD and/or copy detection. I was in internal software
support (MVS) for a while and didn't really think those routines would
more than double the size of the .exe
Thanks again, Lindsay.
