My next build:
AMD Opteron 170 dual core
DFI SLI-DR
Corsair XMS 2x1GB DDR 500 (PC4000)
2x7900GT (evga or xfx)
2x WD Raptor 74gb in RAID 0 or 1x 150gb Raptor (whichever is cheaper when i build the system)
1 200gb maxtor sata for storage (in my current system)
Hiper Type-R 580w psu in black
thermaltake armor case in black
NEC 3550a dvd burner
lite on 16x dvd rom (i have one now with modded firmware and it rips dvds ultra fast!)

My watercooling setup:
Black Ice Extreme III radiator
Swiftech Storm gpu block
2x Swiftech MCw 60 gpu blocks
Swiftech mcp 655 12v pump
dual 5 1/4" bay reservoir
1/2" uv blue reactive tubing

I think the watercooling setup is pretty solid. I plan to OC the opteron to the 2.8ghz range, maybe 3ghz if i get a good stepping. Any suggestions on the cooling setup? should i get a sli-dr or go for the expert?

bix3 will only perform with really high cfm fans 100+

if you want to reduce noise, invest in a PA120.3, will outperform the bix3 and keep it quieter. if money is a concern, then get the bip3 intead

everythign else looks fab

Oh yes it is very powerful system. But I don't know about your cpu.I think that AMD 4400 or 4800 will be a better choice. This is my opinion.

I'd say lose the SLI'd video cards and purchase 1 high end card, 7900GTX or X1900XTX. It will be cheaper and perform better. If you want very high resolutions and decent frames then that's the only reason to run with SLI. If not, then you're wasting your money.

Im definately sticking with an opteron so a 4400 or a 4800 is not an option. I was thinking about going with a 7900gtx and then down the road i can always add another one if i want to. I will consider that other radiator, the PA 120.3, does anyone know if that one will need high cfm fans like the bi 3 ?

yea um hes doing water cooling to overclock and the opties overclock much better so the opty would be a better choice.

Just like everyone has said, lose the SLI, with the DFI Ultra board you can mod it yourself easily to become SLI, so you'll say some cash too.

the sli-dr comes sli ready, but if you are talking about the ultra-d pencil mod- its no longer possible do the the adjustments dfi made to prevent people from doing that and not buying the sli board.
