What is flashing and what does it do to my dvd drive? i downloaded an update for my dvd drive which is called firmware and it only gave me one option which was to flash the drive so i did. Does this install the update or what?

Yes this installs the update (as long as the software told you it did) The firmware updates typicaly contain media burning settings for the laser. Also sometimes there are fixes and rarely speed increases. always a good idea to use the latest version of firmware with your CD/DVD recorders I hope this helps some ?
