I cannot download the latest win 98 security updates, (KB891711; KB890175;
KB891781; KB888113).
Does anybody know a non microsoft site which hosts these updates? I have
asked MS several times for help, and nothing they say helps.

If you copy and paste each reference into www.google.com and type
download before each reference and then search you should be taken to
the respective download e.g. download KB891711

Hope it works.

Emrys Davies.

Google usually works for updates that have been out for a while.
Adding to what Emrys said, especially when it comes to W98, you also should
include in the search W98 too or you will have to sift through all the WXP,
etc, links that don't apply or give you links for W98 so readily.

Last week or so you could not find any hits for these updates, but this week
I see if you look with a discerning eye you can find some sites hosting the
updates you mentioned, besides the ms servers.

I've sure learned my lesson.....the old-fashioned way. :-)

Old Chinese proverb: "fool me once, shame on you; fool me twice, shame on
me"

Jane,

You have a point here. I'm not sure whether or not a particular Windows
Update reference e.g. KB891711 applies to all Operating Systems and I
was tempted to ask that question as a separate post, but I did not do
so.

I noted that the questioner has Windows 2000 and that
KB891711 refers to Windows XP - hence my doubt - which you can now clear
up please.

Emrys Davies
