Windows Media Player not working.......help

i cannot figure this out. Media player 10 was working yesterday and all of a sudden it stopped working. I can play my music from other player such as Quick time or av rack, ...i have even updated the codecs for wmp10. what is wrong?

is the volume down or the mute button pushed?

May be a software conflict - try system restore to yesterdays point.
