Here is my setup, I currently run Crucial Ballistix 1GB (512mb x 2)
2-2-2-5 timings, but I wanted to stup up to a 2x 1GB module, with further reading I am convinced I need relaxed timings, and those look like the memory modules to do it, I will update as I try to unlock the 4400 toledo with the stock heatsink!
Current setup:
Abit AN8-32 sli mobo
Athlon x2 4400 Toledo (ADA with copper heatpipes)
Evga 7800 gtx http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6814130254 WD Raptor 36 gig x2 RAID 0
OCZ Modstream PSU.
Antec Sonata case (replaced stock case fan with panaflo 120mm)
If I can get this puppy anywhere with this setup expect an update in the next 3 days!
Maybe this will help those who try to overclock but hit a wall with stock pc3200 memory modules like I did.
Oh, current score in EDIT: 3dMark05 is around 8000, this seemed really low to me, so hence the "unlocking".
Sheesh, probably would have bought those Crucial sticks if I had known them to exist, I always default to Crucial first, Corsair last, problem is, if NewEgg, doesn't stock it, I don't buy it. I am far to loyal to them to purchase ANYTHING anywhere else. Period.
Ok, got the sticks today, results soon
Edit / update: 3DMark06 scores are 4900... sorry I posted 05 scores up top.
I have tried a lot of different settings, from underclocking the ram to overclocking the fsb on different multipliers and running the ram in both 1t and 2t settings, and combinations of them all.
I did get the Processor to run stable at 34Âșc at 270 x 9 multiplier, but like all of the other trials, nothing made the system perform better, only worse. 4300-4600
After trial and error and lots of time spent, I learned one thing:
I don't know what i am doing 8O
If anyone else has had any luck running this similar setup and overclocking it with actual performace increases I would really like to know.
