I am beginning to look for a new computer (mainly for gaming) on a budget and everytime I think i make some progress in my choices it seems that new questions appears...

For now, I am looking for a Athlon 3200+ s939, K8N-neo4 premium, xfx 7600gt. Here is the latest question I am asking myself (and now I ask to you :)

How much RAM should I buy ?

For my budget, at first I tought 2X512 pc3200. But, if I consider the future, I foresee that in 1 or 2 years I will need 2gb. Performance-wise, would it be a better idea to buy 1 memory stick of 1gb now instead of 2x512 ? Or does the 2X512 config is better than a 1gb one ? In the future, the day I will upgrade, would a 2X512 + 1gb would be less effective than a 2 x 1gb ?

Thank you for your help

If you are planing for 2G anyways then I would go for 1X1Gig and later on you could buy a second one.

I would get the 2 512MB now, so you can run Dual Channel configuration and have the best performance. Later on, you can add another 2 512MB and have 2GB, maintain Dual Channel, and only lose minimal performance (nothing noticable) compared to 2 1GB, and it will be cheaper in the end.

2x1GB PC3200 Corsair Value Select aren't that expensive.

In my case, I am on a very tight budget and the difference betweent 1 or 2gb is important. For now, I prefer put more money on the videocard (which would be a xfx 7600gt)
