Error message -"ThunkConnect32. Failure",Updates unsuccess..

For sometime now I have been unable to successfully download Windows
Security updates from the site due to this error message - Titled "W95 Inf32
DLL" "ThunkConnect32 Failure".
How do I overcome this problem, considering I am a layman at dealing
with Computer problems.
My operating system is "Windows 98SE"

Try extracting a new copy of setupx.dll and w95inf32.dll to the Windows\System
folder, from your Windows CD or the .cab file location on your hard drive, using the
"Extract one file" option of System File Checker (SFC).

If no joy, try installing an updated version of w95inf32.dll by installing the
Visual basic 6.0 Run-time Libraries update....it is included in the files installed.
