Where is the list of applications for untyped files?

Or, to ask the question at a length unacceptable in a subject line,
does anyone know where in the registry is kept the list of applications
which are offered as candidates to open a file which belongs to no
particular file type, either because no type has been created for
its extension or because its name has no extension? I looked with
the Registry Editor, but couldn't locate the list.

For one instance, there is an offer to open an untyped file on my
system with CorelDraw, but not with Corel Photo-Paint. Did something
in the Corel suite installation command that CorelDraw be added to
the list, or does Win98SE pick and choose certain likely-looking
applications for the list?

The point being, that I'd like to fiddle with the list, if I can
do it without destroying anything.

Thanks for any thoughts (particularly if expressed in responses).

(Off the topic just a tad, thanks for the recent exchange re
adding actions to a file type; it solved, for me, the problem
of grabbing back an extension inappropriately hijacked by
installation of an application -- now I can just right-click
on files with that extension and choose another application
better suited to those files.)

This really doesn't address your post but you would probably find a
program named FastExplorer useful. Basically, it lets you easily set up
your own right click context menu entries for any file type, for
folders, for all files, etc. The entries can be nested. That means you
could easily use any of many apps to open a file of a particular type.
For example, if I right click an MP3 the context menu has an entry for
"MP3" which expands into a list of 12 apps, any of which I can use to
open the file.

It's a very handy program; definitely one of my most used. More info in
my dandies (see sig).
