How to find the security key for wireless internet

I just bought a laptop with wireless internet service. I can connect to the internet as long as my router is hardwired into my computer, but when I try to connect to my wireless network, it asks me for the network security key and I have no idea what that is or where to find it. So what and where is it?

  1. Look on the bottom of the router, all the details there.

Stay hooked up using cable, access router web interface, normall y 192.168.0.1 or 192.168.1.1.

Look for wireless settings, change security to WPA/WPA2 and enter a new encryption key and choose wireless mode G or N.

Save, reboot router, pull out cable, detect wireless network and enter your new key when asked.
