Looking to buy a graphics card off craigslist

Someone wants to sell me
Sealed NEW ATI Radeon X850XT PE PLATINUM EDITION 256 MB ( x850xtPE) in the box for 200 dollars. Is it work it? Should I go for the 7900 GT and pay the 100 dollars more? What do you think?

If it were AGP it would be a steal and you should grab it right away. But since you mention the 7900GT, I take it it's PCI-e, which in the USA there are better cards for the money. It's not a bad buy, and I doubt you'd find a platinum edition cheaper. But it's not the best deal either as the plain X850XT non platinum has been as low as $155, the 7600GT has been similar priced AR (after rebate), and the X1800GTO as low as $180 AR. Also consider the X1800XT which is $260 AR for the $256MB version $300 no rebates for the 512MB version. X1800XT's are easily equal cometitors to the 7900GT(just depends on the game), but cheaper price and better availability.
