Where is my GIF Association?

I cant find the association for gif files under View, Folder Options, File
Types.
When I attempt to recreate an association by clicking new file type, it says
file type gif is in use but I cant see it!

What has happened?

Actually, I wanted to change the icon for gif files.

In windows explorer Details view, look at a gif file and record the type,
files are stored in the
start
settings
folder options
filetype
menu in alphabetical order by that type description, not by the extension
then you can edit it

try to open a .gif file in your windows explorer holding the shift key
you will get an option called "open with" in the submenu, this opens up
the file assosciation toolbox.

It is probably in a list with other file types.
What program opens GIF files for you?
