Ok, 8O how much of a difference as a general rule, in gaming framerates is there between a Leadtek GF4 TI4600 Ultra and a Leadtek 6600GT AGP with average settings and no AA.
(Looked for a chart with both on and could not find one)

Thank's.

VGA charts IV: ti4200-8x VS 6800GT.

Call of Durty:
ti4600:69.9
6800:99.6
6800GT:143.0

As far as I know, the 6600GT is slightly slower than the 6800 - thus, the ti4600 is 30% slower than the 6600GT in DX8 games.

Comparing in DX9 games is meaningless since the ti4x00 series are DX8.1 GPUs (fixed shader functions).

I have a 6600 but mine is a 256 meg not a 128...but here goes...frame rates on the 2 machines might be a little different ...although the speeds are close on the hardware the rendering engines are miles apart.. the Ti 4600 has problems duplicating a simple shadow...and the 6600 does complexed shadowing with consideration for multiple and moving light sources...its like compareing apples and oranges.. both are fruit but boy what a difference. Here its not the speed that will get you there its the quality of the view...back when the ti 4600 128 meg was it, any picture was acceptable and this machine did it faster than anything out there.. it will still run a circle around a 5700 LE but now we have direct x 9c and Geforce has introduced level 3 shaders and complexed light sourceing..its now not enough to be the fastest... we want to see the waving grass brush against us and feel the wind in our hair as we play our latest first person shooter. if you want the test its Metal of Honor Pacific Assault..find a friend with a 6600 256 meg and 1gig or better of 400mhz unbuffered non-ecc. do 800mhz fsb with a prescott core p4 3 ghz running dual channel. then run the same system with the ti 4600 128.....Uh HUH! what a difference a day makes... 24 little hours....If you have already done that you are already the proud owner of a brand new 6600 256meg video card.. and if you haven't run it yet...well good luck with your purchase! Post script...the 4600 can only do agp 1x2x4x ...the 6600 does 4x and 8x not to be confused, it's a bus speed that is double the band with.... agp 1 runs at 66mhz so 8x is like a 533 mhz bus speed while 4x is roughly half. On the other side of the coin pci is 33mhz a 16x pci is equivelant to an 8x agp there is however a software aplication to the agp that makes it about 25% to 50% more efficient than the pci... this program is called a "gart" and shuttles texture information to and from the vid card. It might just account for the need to do SLI support when doing pci express vid cards and why the pci express are less expensive than the agp.
