Your friend lies to you Vulefu.

Using toms interactive charts, It appears to me that the 7800 GT (no 7900 up) is averageing .333 to .5 more frames per second(133% and 150%). Also, the 7800 GT normaly beats 6800GT's in SLI by slightly lower margins (fear makes the 6800's>the 7800 though).

And after looking at the launch day information also here on toms hardware two 7600 GT's seem to be equivalent to a 7900GT.

GS<GT so I think that the 7900 would have better performance.

My only other recommendation is that you upgrade your motherboard and processor to AMD.

You say that you think 7900 would be better, even if the 7900 has only 256MB while the 2 7600 have 512MB x2 ???

Still playing my Dreamcast

he is looking at getting two gs's if I read the post right, and aren't GT's better than Gs's? Well, anywho... Two slower cards with more ram probly won't perform as well as the better card. In most cases for NVIDIA it has been a case of 5 more fps.. I believe.

So, yes get the 7900gt>2x 7600gs

As for the X1800XT instead of the 7900GT....
With gaming it is almost all up in the air, except I hear that ati cards play better in oblivion.

Though, GS might be better than GT.... I'm not sure...

Sli helps in some games, hurts in others.
7900GT is your best buy.
If your are going to overclock get the 7900 over the 1800.
They got the 7900 to 700+core and 1900+memory.
Gt>GS
