How much longer 'til we evolve enough to where this isn't an issue.
Being gay, not the blood clot. Although, since I've had a blood clot in my right
shoulder for nearly 20 years...
One comment on this topic. Gary Studds had a relatively undistinguished career in the US House ... except that he was "outed" for being the 1st openly homosexual member ... because he was caught having sex with a young House page ...
You see, this Mark Foley is accused of sending emails and IM's to pages ... Gary Studds actually "seduced a young male House page" and was censured by the US House of Representatives ...
This is why the headlines read as they do ... if he had been a relatively former benign member of the House, I doubt that you would have heard of his passing ... but he wasn't. He was, sexually, an opportunist - who used a high school "page" for sex.
I was refering to the gay part of the issue. Sex with a minor is entirely different.
I don't know if he was gay or not. I never met the man and can't comment on his demeanor or mood. But I know from what I've read and from his actual admissions on the floor of the House of Representatives that he was a homosexual who used his privileges, prestige and "high office" to seduce a young, male House Page ...
Like Clinton and countless others. I think it's like 97% of sex crimes involving
adults and minors are commited by straight people. Sex predadors, especially
those who chase minors, should be dropped from 40,000ft out in the Pacific.
Gay, straight, black, white, who cares. Just another way to keep us divided so
the folks at the top can continue running off with all the money and power.
"Other members of the party known for "family values" — Dan Crane, Bob Livingston, Robert Packwood, Jack Ryan — have seen their careers go "pfft! " with such salacious disclosures.
Meanwhile, Bill Clinton, Barney Frank, Gerry Studds and other Democrats have withstood embarrassing revelations to govern another day.
"The reality is that Democrats seem to get away with more," says Chuck Todd, editor in chief of The Hotline, a daily political journal. "They can have an affair and bail (themselves) out. There’s a lower threshold for Republicans."
They don't come across as the religious leaders with morals and blah, blah, blah.
Clinton didn't run on family values and following God. Those Republicans did.
That's why there's a higher standard for Republicans who run on that platform.

Let's make this a bit more fun. I agree the gay part is not interesting (at all). The minor part is, though.
First of all, I presume the legal age for having a relationship with an adult is 18? That is what it is here, anyways. We also have some sort of an exception with regard to relationships between minors of 16 and above and young adults (below 21).
The whole age discussion of the page, is rather artificial in my book. Whether the boy is not yet 18 or already 18, give or take a couple of months, that cannot be the issue. Also I find it a bit preposterous to talk about sexual predators when this is about a boy of barely 18 or not. If there is another age boundary valid for the US then just insert that for argument's sake.
What is a much more imperative discriminator in this case above age (within reason of course, we're not talking about children here but (almost) young adults) is the imbalance of power. Obviously a congress man can abuse his power over people with less influence (and especially interns) and for me personally that is what makes me despise this person. Age does play a role in the power game as well, with the older person having the advantage. Representatives should stay away from any situation in which they can be accused of abuse of power.
For most sexual predators it is not about sex at all but about the power they wield over their victims.
