im having problems OCing my computer past 2900mhz
the temps are good...under 50c on prime95 for cpu and chipset
but i can not get my fsb up to 250 i dont know if im doing something wrong
ill have my Vcore at 1.55v ram at 2.8v the chipset V maxed and HT V maxed
ill keep the multi at 13(stock) but if i raise the multi to 15with a htt of 200 itll crash or just not be stable?
i can get my htt to 224 but ill freeze after that and prime95 wound last more than a minute
also the X-Fi card does it require you to plug it a small 4 pin plug from the psu it worked fine w/o it but it works fine with it pluged in so i dont know if it is supposed to be in ot not???
thanks pal but it appears that the artical is on the pc4000 gold that you can put up to 3.3v not the platinum where if you volt it over 3v it will void the warranty
My computer:
Asus A8N-SLI Premium
AMD 64 3700+ (San Diego) with Zalman CNPS9500 @ 3,0GHz
4x 512Mb Corsair PC4400/DDR550 @ 452MHz
2x GeForce 7800GT 256Mb in SLI-mode
2x 250Gb, 16Mb cache in RAID0 (Striped on Slilicon chipset)
250Gb, 8Mb cache on ATA133
250Gb, 8Mb cache on USB2.0
160Gb, 2Mb cache on USB2.0
SoundBlaster X-Fi ElitePro (with 4-pin floppy-cable connected
Hiper Type-R 630W
All this is in my Antec P180
My settings
Multiplier: 11x
FSB: 273MHz
HTT: 4x (4x273 = 1092MHz)
Ram: 1,66x (because of 4x 512Mb...)
vCore: 1,5v (max on my motherboard...)
vRam: 2.8v (standard is 2.7v)
vChipset: ?v (can´t remember but it is maxed out...)
vHTT: ?v (can´t remember but it is maxed out...)
Bios ver.: v1009
Temp idle: 32-36c
Temp max: 45c
Have you tried to set your ram to 1,66x instead of 2x? Maybe that will help...
You know that you can download an Image with Memtest86 and burn to a CD...
i figured out my problem it was using the Asus Ai booster, it for some reason wont let me go past htt of 223 (i dont have patients for rebooting bios) so now im using bios and nvidia nTune wich is a stable htt changer for me
im unable to get past 2900mhz multi11x263ram3-3-2-7-1t and be prime stable??? on prime95 im at 48*c
what are ur 3dmark05 scores mine is ~12,400
what are your 7800gt clocked to Mine is 479core and 1.11memory. I have the artic cooling X1`s in the mail
any idea why i cant get past 2.9 ghz???? temp? what is your temp ?
My two 7800GT are clocked to 475/1149MHz with standard cooling... I am thinking of buying the new Zalman cooling for graphicscards.
I haven´t tested the computer with Prime95, but it is stable for hours when I run a lot of programs:
DC++, Nod32, MSN and a game like Battlefield 2... Then it is stable.
I will test the computer with Prime95 and if it´s not stable, then I´ll make it stable...
My temps are:
Idle: 32-36c
Max: 45c
In 3DMark05 I get 13.500p. But you can´t tell how fast a computer is with that program...
And I have Cool&Quiet ON. It works fine!!! Quiet computer with a clock at 3000MHz.
I have tried to turn off all the Overclocking AI stuff and just run the manuel mode?
Why don´t you set your multiplier to 14x (you have an FX...) and turn the FSB to 214-215MHz? Then you´ll get 3000MHz...
You shall have the needed voltage for the CPU to be stable... If you have more voltage it will probably be unstable again. I think I have too much vCore, so tomorrow will I test it with Prime95 and turn down the voltage.
I have got the San Diego version and you have another... So you can´t really compare our CPUs.
Maybe you need better cooling... Because if it gets warmer it needs more voltage and more voltage means warmer CPU...
I was unable to get my AMD64 3700+ stable at 3,0GHz with 1,5volts. I think the cpu needs more voltage to get stable, but I can´t give it more than 1,5v because of my motherboard...
So I turned down it to these settings and it´s memtest86 stable and hopefully Prime95 stable (I have only run Prime95 for 1 hour).
CPU clock: 2904MHz
Multiplier: 11x
FSB: 264MHz
Ram: 1,66x (438MHz)
HTT: 4x (1056MHz)
vCore: 1,425v (1,45-1,47v according to CPU-Z)
vRam: 2,8v
vHTT: 1,25v
vChipset: 1,6v
Temps
Idle: 28-32c
Max: 42c
With these settings I´ll get around 13 000 p in 3DMark05...
