FTP'S

Hey a friend of mine is running an FTP and none of his users can stay online for like more than 5 mins. Does anyone know why these random disconnects keep happening?
He is on a cable connection using port 2000, could it be his ISP causing this, or his NIC?

What FTP server is he running?
There is most likely a timeout setting for the server that is not set correctly.
Most servers offer a setting to automatically disconnect a user after a certain amount of idle time.

There's a good chance the isp is switching. I've heard people up in Canada using Shaw that have the same problem, especially with napstir and irc. I remember someone talking about how they solved the problem with a baseball bat...
