DIrectx 9 on Windows 7

Hello,

I know Windows 7 ships with DX11.
I know DX11 is "backwards compatable".
Please don't tell me either of these things.

I am running Windows 7 ultimate 64bit. I have DX11 working and showing in DXDiag.

A lot of games require a few files from DX9.

The web installer doesn't work.
The end-user run time doesn't work.(dx9 or 10) Both crash or error out.

The web installer says that the dxwsetup.inf is damaged or missing, when I look for the temp file it doesn't exist.

Ive googled everything for about 8-10 hours.

I have a 560ti with updated drivers.

WHAT IS GOING ON. I JUST WANT TO INSTALL DX9 TO GET THE MISSING FILES SO I CAN PLAY GAMES ETC.

Please for the love of god tell me what I can do.

More about directx windows
  1. I've never seen a DX9 game not work on a fresh Win7 install. It's not a Win7 thing, something else is wrong.
  2. I'm going to reinstall windows 7. There weren't any problems the first time but this time I'll do it from a disk instead of the DVDtoUSB way.

A lot of people are having the missing dx9 file problems mine is different however in the fact that they can eventually INSTALL the new files. Every goddamn installer I use just errors out, quits or crashes.

    I hate everything.
  3. LOL! you are absolutely correct!
Btw you're doing the best thing to fix your problem.
