Hi, do I really need an 'Easy Transfer Cable for Windows 7' when I get my new machine?
If I have all my pictures, music, video files on an external HD, I can just connect it to my new Win7 PC right?
But what about transferring programs? Not sure what else I would need to transfer over to the new PC.
Any help is very appreciated.
Thanks:)

No you don't need a cable, you can use W7 ETW to save files and settings to a second drive, cd/dvd or USB stick.
Insert the W7 DVD.
Browse to the DVD drive on your computer and click migsetup.exe in the Support\Migwiz directory
Run the W7 ETW.

Thanks for the info. I will connect my external HD to my new PC, hope it connects without any hassle, and transfer my files...and re-install any programs.
