I have a Gateway P4 Computer from 2002. It has an intel Motherboard. My question is can i update the bios on a Gateway built computer. I have read somewhere that the companies block you from being able to update. I download a bios upgrade for my computer from the GAteway website for my model and every time i triued to start up off the floppy disk with the bios update on it it says non bottavble disc. I followed the directions word for word. It said i have to use an ibm fomated disc, whcih i did use. Also, if it is blocked is there a way around it. I will give you more specs of the motherboard once I get home tonight. TIA

Did you put a 'system' on the disk? The disk doesn't appear to be bootable. Reformat the disk, only check the box in the format window that makes an MS-DOS startup disk (or some variation of 'boot disk', 'bootable' or similar). Copy the flash utility to it again and see if it'll work.
