Better buy?

Yes, I read the sticky - but the difference in cost between the Nvidia and ATI cards seems to be different here in the UK...

Anyway, I'm currently looking at:

7600 GT 256Mb for £141
7600 GT extreme 256Mb £153
x1800XT 256Mb for £200

Now, I know the X1800 is a better card, but is it really worth 1/3 cost more than a 7600GT?

I'm currently using a 6800 vanilla, so either card would give me a significant improvement. Oh, and I'm using an Athlon64 3000+ and 2Gb of RAM if that matters at all.

I just saw some benchmarks of 7600 GT's in SLI... they were almost always not as good as a single X1800 XT.

If you can afford the X1800, and you're into gaming, it's not a bad buy at all...


[edit] here's the review. Notice that two SLI'd 7600 GTs beat the X1800 in 3dMarks, but the X1800 XT beats them both in pretty much every actual game...

Also just seen a 7900GT (from another supplier I trust) for just £5 more than the X1800XT.
