opteron 146 or 165

which would be better with say 1 gig o ram and a asus a8n5x mobo(nothing is final just an idea of a mobo i was lookin at)

opteron 146 with a 1900xt or
opteron 165 with a 1800xt 256

I wouold go with the opty 165 and x1800xt... Because duel core is up and coming.

The opty 165 it's dual core and it you can oc it to 146 specs.
And get yourself a 7900gt its the same price as the x1800xt and performs better.

Agree. A Dual Core with a slightly Lower Graphic Card Is better than a Single Core with a Faster Graphic Card

Ever hear of Overclocking? You could just tweek the shytt outta that X1800XT Even if It does'nt seem to be As Featurette Stuffed as the X1900X series, the X1800 overclocked will give you Bleeding Edge Performance

If you are just using it for gaming and money matters, get the opteron 146. That should get you by for the next 9 months or so. In that time, both processors will drop in price like rocks.
