Your best guess is currently correct from any price searching I have done. There simple isn't any GTO competion in that price range. I'd ask what games you play as that can sway whether you go green or red. But at those prices it just doesn't matter. The 6800GS supply is drying up and $195 shipped is about as good as you can find. Eitherway those two trade blows with the GTO coming out on top IMO.

If you can find a stray X850pro or X800XL for that price, then those would be better. Otherwise if that price range is firm, the GTO is your card.

I just checked price grabber for the x800 gto and everything was PCIe :?:

I'm looking for my last/best AGP card for a 2.5 yr old P4 2.8 GHz ... any opinions/recommendations?

What is your price range?

Starting at the top, here is a evga 7800GS CO with a S754 mobo for $285 after $15 rebate. If you have no use for the mobo, then the card alone is $15 less.

X850XT and AIW X800XT are too expensive to considere now in AGP unless you really want the AIW features:

X800XL AGP for $180 if they ever come back in stock again. The fact there is no ETA this time doesn't look good.

Strange clocked X800GTO (higher on core slower on Mem) $155

Normal clocked 256MB Sapphire X800GTO $170

Other cards to look for would be a X850 pro, X800 pro, or 6800GS.
