This guy isolated the controlls to the read write head, hooked them up to his speakers. Added a laser pointer and some mirrors and created a laser oscilloscope from a dead hard drive.

I already posted this url in another, but the laser oscilloscope build is so cool it deserves its own post.

Unfortunately there is no way I could pull this off, I can barely solder and I can't recognize even the simplest circuit. Makes me wish I went for the EE degree instead of CIS.

If my friend with the E.T degree ever gets fired he has said he will help me build one of these.

I have an Uncle comming in to two who workgs as an electrical technition, but without a degree. Maybe he can do the parts I can't?

Maybe I am crazy (technically mentally ill) but I really really want a box that projects laser patters on my wall in sync with my music and it want it to be built using a dead hard drive a laster pointer, a couple broken pieces of mirror hot glue and duct tape.
