DDR-400 vs DDR2-533

Just a quick question: I recently purchased a buget motherboard (Asus P5VDC-MX) and CPU (Pentium D 805) and was wondering which memory would be faster. The motherboard has a VIA P4M800 Pro chipset and supports both memory types. I mean I can get DDR-400 with a CAS of 2 while DDR2-533's lowest CAS is 3, but in theory DDR2-533 has a higher FSB. A little help please. Thanks.

The two pretty much performs on par with one another.
Obviously the theoretical bandwidth of DDR2-533 is going to be greater
Since you have a dual core CPU, the extra bandwidth should come in handy.
The ideal situation is to go with DDR2-533 and retain the lowest possible CAS latency which means..........buy good / performance memory modules

You should buy the DDR2 memory. If it is high quality memory it will perform faster than regular DDR memory.
