I have plans to upgrade to an ATI X1900XT or XTX graphics card in the following weeks, and I've just ordered a Samsung 215TW 21" Widescreen monitor, that supports 1680x1050. I was now wondering about what is the maximum DVI resolution and frequency on a X1900XT card. I've read somewhere that these cards will be limited to "just" 1600x1200@60Hz, is this true?

Since LCD's "refresh" differently than CRT's, the refresh rate dosnt come into play.

Much of the discussion of refresh rate does not apply to LCD monitors. This is because while a phosphor on a CRT will begin to dim as soon as the electron beam passes it, LCD cells open to pass a continuous stream of light, and do not dim until instructed to produce a darker color.

Well it's a good thing someone read this who can answer your qestion. JEEZ!

The whole X1K series has at the very least 1 dual-link TMDS, the X1900 series has 2 on all dual DVI cards, and that means it can support up to about 2,500+x2,000+ @ 60hz, so you'll be more than fine, even if you go for 2 of those 30" monitors. 8)
