they both have good and bad points from what I hear :) Hardware wise and for bandwidth I hear Nvidia's is better but I think ATI's drivers are better then Nvidia's and also ATI allows you to run Xfire on a Nvidia mobo (I think you can run Nvidia SLI on a Xfire mobo too but you need a patch or something) So its just a matter of what you like best and go with that :) hmm although neither of them are doing bad these days !

no i'm not trying to buy it i'm alreay have I would just like to hear your opinion 8)

The only way I'd have an opinion would be if I had significant experience with both. For example, if I'd tried something like two mobos for SLI and two for XF and if I'd taken the time to tweak each long enough to have a feel for their quirks, etc., then I'd have an opinion. If my opinion is nothing but a regurgitation of what a reviewer has written, then it's not MY opinion. Right now, I'm just getting my feet a little wet with SLI and IF that works out, maybe I'll consider XF later on.

there.

That reports on their tests and their results. Which still does not influence MY opinion because I don't rely completely on reviews in developing my opinions - I rely in part on my own experiences.

As far as performance goes, they are equally impressive.
So imo, I look for the details, and ATI's video rendering plus ATI's feature rich image quality nudges out nVidia... and add to that ATI's XF is newer and more flexible than SLI, so again, imo, ATI is the winner...

And I am still waiting for the HiS X1900XT IceQ3 cards to emerge in the US market! That is the ultimate card, imo. 10C cooler than all other brands stock air cooling, and it still exhausts out the rear...

Do you have a link? Sounds very interesting!

With luck, tonight I'll install my 1900XT. I got a decent deal on a Gigabyte card. But there may be another one in our future and maybe the HIS s the way to go if it's that much cooler. I need to see that the details are.

Edit: even dummies can learn to search for themselves:

when referring to best i mean as in cooling, but it will probably cool berrer than any air cooler HIS tech can throw at it. my friend has an X800 with a HIS tech cooler, looks pretty cool

Hmm, some reviews don't really agree. I seem to remember peak temps under load about the same as stock air cooling. But what I'm getting at is this: how can you just look at reviews on various sites and come up with a single "best" without having quite a bit of hand-on experience yourself? Don't you think it's possible for reviewers to have bias that clouds their reviews? I'm not picking on you Pengwin, just trying to understand the absoluteness of your comment.

http://www.hothardware.com/viewarticle.aspx?articleid=799&cid=2

and this one

and this one

and this one

the toxic is supposed to be retailed for 30 dollars more after a 30 dollar rebate so for 30 dollars more u get liquid cooling, and quieter game play.
:)

i agree reviewers may be bias but benchmarks arent

Why didn't you post any of the reviews that favor other cards? Surely with all of the searching and reading you've done, you ran across at least a couple that either called it a tossup or even favored the 7900GXT??? I know I've read a few and I've seen plenty of benchmarks that favor the 7900GTX. Don't get me wrong - I've got an X1900XT but I know that the top cards, if running right, are pretty close.
