Hi there!

Still in the process of building my little muzak studio, and the next item I'm in desperate need of is a portable recording unit. The type of thing you'd take when going for a walk & casually record things like birds, old ladies gossiping, yelling into toilets, etc.

I'm guessing that my best bet for clean computer interactivity is an MP3 and/or WAV device, but I know next to nothing about them. BTW I primarily use an M-Audio Fast Track Pro for a recording sound card.

So could anyone recommend to me such a device that combines high quality sound (24-bit audio resolution would be nice) with a fairly low price tag? And can take a bit of a beating, too

If there is a better solution than an MP3 device I'd love to hear about it :)

Thanks!

iTunes is a great mp3 encoder and a player! It aint the best. but it's pretty dam good, when your encoding try not to go over 128 kps. You dont get any more quality and with iTunes it will just make your songs take up more space.
Lion.
