Win 98 error message

I have an error message that goes

Security Warning
A fatal error in IE has occured at 0028 :C0011E36in VXD VMM<01> +
00010E36. Error was caused by Trojan-Spy.HTML.Smitfraud.c

*System cannot function in normal mode.
Please check your security settings.

* Scan your PC with any available anti-virus / spyware remover
program to fix the problem

It's on a blue screen.

I ran the antivirus software which detected a number of files infected with
trojans and viruses and cleaned them. The blue screen is still remaining and
I don't know how to get rid of the error message.

All programs are operating normally.

Any advice would be appreciated.
