i get this error message when i start windows 98 se:
"error loading explorer.exe, you must reinstall windows"
then the computer shuts down!
i get the same error when i try to start in safe mode.
i tried using the bootdisk but get the same error.
i modified the system.ini file from the command prompt so that
shell=taskman.exe and i can run programs from the taskmanager. as such, i
tried to run ie setup.exe from the winfile but get the same error. i've
looked through microsoft knowledge base but nothing seems to work.
i've run out of options! any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
thank you!!

Thank you Ben. My system is up and running once again!
I realized that I could run sfc.exe from the file manager
and that solved the problem! Cheers!
