Hello,

I was looking into some new ahrd drives and I had a few ideas. I am either getting Seagate or Western Digital, hands down. I was thinking of getting a 200 gig harddrive or two 80 gig harddrives. would the two 80 gig harddrives be worth getting if not used in a raid? That was one option or to use them within a raid 0 setup.

What wouls any of you do in this situation?

Thanks,
Dan

I would not use them in an AID0 setup. (there is nothing redundant in AID0, so I refuse to use the R) You might need an AID0 setup, but only if you use programs that access the harddrive enough to make it worthwhile. Web surfing, gaming, Music playing/ripping, etc ARE NOT ACTIVITIES that AID0 would help. Neither is using DVD shrink to stea.. I mean backup your movies. Last knock against AID0, price. I'll bet you that for the same price as those two 80GB drives, I could buy a much larger harddrive. Get the 200GB, or maybe even a 250. (I'm starting to see these around $90-100.)

80GB drives are about $50. 250GB drives are about $95-100. Get the 250GB. Why pay the same for less space.

Kinda like Raptors. Retarded to pay $300 for 150GB of space for faster load times or maybe 2 seconds faster boot time when you could get 750GB of space for the same price.
