Spent the weekend tweaking my rig to see what it could do...

I saw nice increments of improvement up to 240fsb, then when I hit 250 I saw some benchies drop. Prime95 told me I was stable, memtest ok, superpi ok...but sometimes slower, found out my HD's were dying along the way. But that damn 3dmark score dropped (CPU mark in particular....by half).

So I looked at the egg and read some reviews.
All of these people were saying they were at 2.4-2.6 stable on air...no voltage bumps...So I had to look at my setup more...and wonder what they were calling "stable". I mean....I was prime stable for 2hrs.....

Turns out that sandra tells me that my L2 cahce scores less than half that of the 4400x2.

Bump the Vcore...it's back on track!

I guess my point is....It can BE 'STABLE' but you might be losing performance. I was running stable with a 450mhz OC but 3dmark was about 800pts lower.

And a question.
If anyone has a kn8 sli board. Speedfan is tellin me my OTES northbridge temp. I've read some people say there isn't a sensor there? (I got 2 configs for the MB and it was on both) Was gettin a little hesitant cuz I can't find good thermal numbers for it....anyone have a link or experience with this MB?

Thats interesting. Do you mean that the CPU itself can take the beating but the L2 cant?
Is that even possible with stability??

What type of CPU marks did you get at which volts?

Im interested since i curently run my 165@ 2.47 @ 1.375V

Here's a comparison of the scores I was gettnig:

3DMark Score 7292 7696 3DMarks
GT1 - Return To Proxycon 33.2 33.9 FPS
GT2 - Firefly Forest 21.6 22.7 FPS
GT3 - Canyon Flight 34.6 37.8 FPS
CPU Score 3289 6320 CPUMarks

I was running @ 1.35v until I got to 250FSB (That's the low end for my board)

When I ran the cache/memory bench from Sandra it was literally half. After I upped the Volts to 1.37 (The smallest increment I could make) it was back to normal. I've got plenty of room to play, just need to find some thermal info for my chipset first.
