this means that htey'll be placing two graphics cards on one board, so if u have two of them, youve got 4 GPUs.

Before i continue, please note that if i am mistaken then correct me.thanx

I tink this will be cheaper that quad sli, but not affordable by most of us.

Well whatever, i thought u might be interested in this

see ya

I bet just any old power supply will run that, huh? And it probably won't generate much heat either? Where's 9cm when you don't need him?

Yep, the inherent problems with SLI and Xfire setups.

But it's four X1600 GPUs, not X1900s... power req's shouldn't be all that bad actually.

Still, there will be four GPUs so a system near its limit with one X1600 would no doubt bite the big one.

What kind of current loads have you seen for X1900XT or XTX boards? Do you think the requirements for the XF master board is the same? How about 7900GTX? Do you have any links?

but heres the realy question about this though, will it be publicy aviable, though a retailer. so that joe blow can log on to newegg and buy the parts, and thow them into a custom built system? Unlike quad-SLI where you have to buy the whole F'ing box for 1.5 to 4 time the cost.

It looks to be, the x1600 uses the rv530 gpu. Mybe it's a typo. Hopefully they reworked the 530 to use 256bit mem like it says in the article. Two x1600 are about on par with a x1800 right? If this isn't dirt cheap then it's not really worth anything but show. Two x1800s now thats something worth a look if it doesn't set fire to your computer.

That's a great visual.

I guess by extrapolation, four X1900XTX's might induce a runaway nuclear reaction? Or at least a black hole in my wallet!

Nope, not by a long shot. Two X1600's are more like a single X1800 GTO, if they're lucky.

The X1600 is a weird GOU to stick in a 4-GPU setup, I figure the only reason is it's low power consumption...

from what I can find the r590 was rumered to be the x1800gto chip. I think all the x1800s have the same chip r520 with a diffrent bios. I did find this article on the dual gpu card. I like what gecube says when asked about performance. http://www.behardware.com/news/804 [...] ecube.html it gets more in to the cards specs.
I also came across this[ about the r600 chip] http://www.vr-zone.com/index.php?i=3498 I'm sure the infos been posted before but it looks some what liget.
If ati could get the x1900 on a 65nm then it might have a shot at dual gpus with it but right now the heat is just to much with them running in the high 70s. By then the 1900s will be old news.
