windows freeze

I hope someone can help. I am running windows 98se - when i am surfing the
net or doing anything, it constantly locks up or freezes. I click to open
something and it takes up to a minute before it registers. It keeps doing
this more and more? any suggestions? Thanks,

Thanks Ron - I do not get any error messages. Example, I go into a webpage
and then click onto something within a page, nothing happens for as long as a
minute at times, no hourglass. Or, I try opening up another webpage and
again nothing happens. It is almost like when I click with the mouse to open
something, it doesn't recognize it. I have run ad-aware and got rid of stuff
but it still doesn't help. Would defrag help?

You need to provide specific details. For example, what are you clicking
and exactly what happens? Is there an error message and if so, what is it?
Do you run scans with an up to date anti virus and do you search for spyware
and adware?

All the examples you have given involve opening a web page or a link on a web page.
Do you have this same problem when opening a program on your hard drive, or is it
strictly web-related?

What have you removed with Ad-Aware, and do you now get a clean report from
Ad-Aware? Did you install the latest updates for Ad-Aware before scanning? How
often do you re-start the computer?

Does the problem occur if you do a clean boot?

I have also been having this problem recently.....only happens about once or
twice a session and normally for about 30 seconds...still annoying tho' I
thought it might be the processor so as I had a spare I tried the other
one.... didn't help. Bob

Dont surf using IE, use Mozilla or Opera or similar.
Problems stop when you stop using IE from micro.
