Ok im gonna try a different route here. Thought I had a good grasp on what I wanted but the brain is just smoking now. Im looking to have a new gaming system built but I need to purchase the items first. I know im probably being high maintanence here but could someone list me the parts on what they would think is the best system I could get for around 1500 bucks. I am willing to go up to 2000 bucks if it is a significant difference in performance. I want to be able to run todays games at the highest settings. Thank you in advance for your help. I need just the computer for this price. I can worry about the monitor later and I have the software that I need already.

Well that can make a sweet system. What I would do is

Opteron 175-$506.00
DFI Lanparty Ultra-D-$122.00
X1900XT-$449.00
2GB G.Skill Extream Ram-$164.00
Case and PSU-$250.00 (This is all up to your tastes)
250GB HDD-$90.00
DVD Drive-$40.00

Its about 1600

I would have to say, this is most definetly the best, for the best price. I personally wouldn't go with the P180 and such, but yeah, I admit, that case is awesome. I'm just a spend thrift. Always scheming new ways for me to save money. Like for instance my thing with ZZF. :D Anyways, yeah, go for this set up, or mabye make the CPU a 170 if you really want. Though, it really isn't needed seeing as the 165 can safely OC to 2.65 with air cooling on some chips. Obviously the 170 will OC higher, but not too much higher.

Also, its good to see someone else take up the crusade of this RAM. I LOVE REBATES.

If this guy really is a n00b, he might not even know what overclocking is. He should probably get an A64 X2.

Another concern.... Are you wanting to include your monitor, keyboard, and mouse in that price?

The builds offered have been just for what goes in the case. The monitor can often be one of the most expensive components.

edit :: sorry, just reread the op. You did mention that you would worry about that later. Still it is good to know that a high end LCD screen can run a pretty chunk of change.
