I have an older Sony Vaio laptop that I would like to put 98 SE on to use the
USB funcitons etc.
I have a full installation disc, with key, a bootable floppy. Have formated
the drive, and each time I run setup from the 98 Second Edition disk, it
installs 98. Nothing about SE ever appears. I always get to a safe mode
bootup in 98, and no clues about what is missing or how to get the where I
want to go.
Any ideas?

Try My Computer > Control Panel > D-click System. Under the General
tab it should tell you if it is SE or not. Windows 98 [Version
4.10.2222] is SE.

Not much is said about SE during
the instal. (does make one feel its just
a vanilla, but if you have SE disk with correct
ID, it should be fine.)
