Hi All, This is a great newsgroup and thanks to all who give there
time and experience! I am a new FS9 user. All is going great except
the gear up/down sound. I usually fly in the Megascenery area and
with the Baron 58 sometimes the gear sound is not there and then
sometimes it is. Flap sound seem to be fine. Has anyone experienced
this and if so was there a solution? Thanks, Jerry

What are your hardware specs? With the additional strain on resources
of this scenery there might no be enough left for sound, especially if
you use an onboard chipset or codec...

Hi Katy,

Sorry about the format and not inserting your comments as a reminder.
I am also new with this newsgroup reader!

I am running a Dell 3.0 GHz, 1 M ram and 128 Mb ATI X300SE PCI
express, Sound card is Soundblaster live 24 bit. Thanks for the
help. I can be flying just fine with sound and then the gear sound
will stop. I also notice when I stop the session the window with the
plane selection will show the Baron with no colors, all gray somtimes
also. Not sure if that is related. I reloaded FS9, and the
Megascenery once also. Jerry

Rather looks and sounds like there is a drivers problem on your
computer, did you run dxdiag.exe and go through all the tests? Are all
drivers up to date in the system?

There are some issues with SB Live and SB Live Value with PCI slot
timing.. also related to Dell mainboard. My sound truncates WAV files
and it's rather annoying. Check in Device Manager for shared IRQ.

Also go to the Creative website and look for the latest SB driver.

Hi Jerry,

Do you know which version of Microsoft DirectX you have? Version 9.0 c
is the latest one.

You can check by going to the Start Menu (of windows), then to Run, and
then typing in dxdiag and pressing Enter on your keyboard.

The ensuing screens/tabs will also let you run various tests, adjust the
level of sound acceleration, etc.

Regards,
John Ward

Hi everyone, I ran the tests and also checked Creative.com and I do
have the latest drivers. Thanks to all of you for all the advice, but
I will just have to wait and check other things as I get information.
I also got my Dad the flight sim software and the megascenery last
Christmas and he is having a great time too! I am looking forward to
getting more involved with it and learning much more. Jerry
