About mid April, April 14th to be exact. I finally got my puter up and running and did a clean install of OS, Vid drivers etc. My rig is as follows.
AMD Athlon 64Fx-53
ATI X850 XT
Asus A8V Deluxe VIA K8T800 Pro Chipset ATX AMD MB
1 Gig of OCZ 3500 unbuffered Ram
2 Western Digital 74 Gig Raptors in Raid 0
DVD ASUS 16X DVD
DVD+/-RW PLEXTOR|PX-712A
CPU FAN Thermaltake Silentboost K8
Cooler Master Wave Master Case
Antec NeoPower 480 Watt PSU
SB Audigy 2Z Platinum Sound Card
Dell Ultrasharp 2005FPW 20.1 Wide Flat Panel
After a few days of play, I notice that I'm having problems with sound and I can no longer fly certain planes. Most notably the P-47. I uninstall the game, order "The Complete Edition" and load it up. I loads fine but I notice that my FPS on "The Black Death" are down significantly in average and maximum.
Before I can get this fixed I get sucked into the whole "Boonty Box" business and my FPS go down again. In frustration I unloaded every single iteration of IL2 and did a system restore back to before I installed PE2. Reinstalled the game and am still having FPS problems.
Last night though I noticed something "funny". I loaded the game and had Fraps showing me FPS live. My FPS were quite high when viewing the main menu but and usually they stay high when in the menu and drop down in the game then bounce back when at the main menu.. Now my machine doesnt do that.
I get a FPS of like 514 when in the main menu (as I did in the past) but when flying TBD I get a high of only 63 FPS and when I come back into the lobby my FPS STAY at 60 when they used to rise back to triple didgits. I'm running at max settings in 4.04M. I don't get this at all.
