hi im a compleat n00b so bear with me
i have this motherboard in my cupboard gigabyte GA-8i925xe-g(it says it supports LGA775 processor) .And about a week ago i won a pentium D 940+ and 2gigs of twin2x corsair ddr2.

Will the processor be compatable with the motherboard ? if it isnt what would be a good motherboard to get?

It will not be compatible. The processor will fit into the motherboard but your motherboard will not be able to support a dual core processor. I would recommend a board by Abit, PC Chips if you are on a budget. I have had good experiences with both brands in my experience.
