Hey guys i am looking obviously for a computer that is under $700, this is going to be ONLY used for email, web browsing and a money program(nothing complicated), i haven't even begun to look on newegg yet as i wanted to come here to get your advice first...

-$700 doesnt mean i want a comp for $699 the cheaper the better(i'll take your advice on what is sufficient enough for what the computer will be used for as noted above)
-no video card need, so perferably atleast a decent one built in
-complete build(nothing can be salvaged from its predecesor) so i'll need everything from a case to a dvd-rom, EDIT: already have keyboard, mouse and speakers

if you have any other questions on what type or whats good for me please ask

and thank you ahead of time for all you input and advice...

Buy a dell. I'm just saying, often home built is cheaper when on more expensive, but as you get to cheaper and cheaper machines, especially for these purposes its often cheaper and easier to just buy from a company. Obviously this may not be the case in this instance, but mabye it is.

Exactly. This is obviously Dell territory.

You just missed a Dimension B110 system with a Celeron processor, 19" LCD monitor and 160 gig HD for 349 bucks shipped ..... 256 ram but thats easily fixed. Cant beat that for e-mail, browsing and money software. I almost snagged one for the extra monitor. They have these deals occasionally and they will undercut the price for a low end home build. If you want quality and choice (and have the cash) build your own.

Will do the trick Socket 754 Box:

case - $71 - NZXT Trinity Black LE
mobo - $66 - K8NGM-V
cpu - $74 - Sempron 64 2800+ (socket 754)
mem - $84 - (2) Kingston 512
hd - $56 - Seagate 80GB SATA
floppy - $11 - Mitsumi
optical - $38 - Sony DVD-RW
OS - $87 - XP Home
Total: $487 shipped from NewEgg

Half-decent Socket 754 Box:

case - $71 - NZXT Trinity Black LE
mobo - $66 - MSI K8NGM-V
cpu - $225 - Athlon 64 3400+
mem - $84 - (2) Kingston 512
hd - $86 - Seagate 160GB SATA
floppy - $25 - Mitsumi Combo Floppy/Card Reader
optical - $38 - Sony DVD-RW
OS - $87 - XP Home
Total: $644 shipped from NewEgg

Best Socket 939 Box:

case - $71 - NZXT Trinity Black LE
mobo - $90 - MSI K8NGM2-NBP
cpu - $235 - Athlon 64 3700+
mem - $84 - (2) Kingston 512
hd - $86 - Seagate 160GB SATA
floppy - $25 - Mitsumi Combo Floppy/Card Reader
optical - $38 - Sony DVD-RW
OS - $87 - XP Home
Total: $716 shipped from NewEgg (can get to about $700 by losing the card reading floppy)

The last system spec'd here obviously has the most potential, both upfront and for upgrades down the road. These boards have at least a halfway decent integrated Video and Audio subsystem, so should hold you over nicely as long as you don't expect much in the realm of heavy-duty gaming.
