i've been having a problem running a zonealarm installation program on a
windows 98se machine - it
gives me validation errors. their forum gives instructions for dealing with
this but in my case they don't solve the problem. i've downloaded a
certificate from verisign called getrootcert.cer but when i install it i get
the following error from the certificate manager import wizard: "an error
has occurred when adding a certificate to the intermediate certification
authorities store." I looked at certificates on the machine using the
internet options applet and found the "trusted root certificate authorities"
list empty. i tried importing a list from another machine but the i got the
error:
invalid public key security object file
this is an inivalid pkcs #7 certificates file
i tried importing the exported file on another 98 machine and it imported
fine.
i tried a utility called rootsupd.exe that the ZA forum recommends but that
doesn't solve the problem either. generally how do i deal with "certificates
gone bad"? thanks for any help.
