Hi! I have to identical ram cards: 2xcrucial ballistix 6400 1 gb ddr2. Each of them single (1gb) runns great, no errors, memtest ok on both. But when I run them together (2gb) I get blue screens, errors, crashes in windows and games. and memtest errors. I've tryed all slot combinations. Have 4 slots, 2 colors. I've tryed to reset bios. ram volt 2.1 as it says on the mem box. And i've deleted hdd and reinstalled xp, same problem. Why doesn't it work with 2 sticks when they are both running great alone?

Abit ni8 sli
p d 3.0 ghz
x1800xt
windows xp home sp2

How can I fix this? Thank you for helping me.

Switch dual channel on if it's off or off if it's on.

Try it at it's lowest settings like set it to 2T and set it to auto.

I've tryed all the slot combinations. Computer is unstable no matter how when I use 2 stics

I have updated bios. I set volt to 2.2. Memory timings is auto. I put in the other identical mem card. I turn on the computer . Try to play half life. Crashes after 10 sec of playing. NO crashes with only one mem card.

It sounds like a timing problem but it might be a defective motherboard.

Do you have another DDR2 motherboard you can test the memory sticks in?

Maybe you can borrow one from a friend.

Are you certain the sticks are identical?

Are they DDR2-667?

Have you tried to manually set the timings in the BIOS to high values?

Hi! ddr2 800 mhz.
Timings are auto (4-4-4-4-12) Do I write "5" on every one instead?

Try:

5-5-5-12

5-6-6-15

7-7-7-16

Also try running it at 667 and slower and see if it works.

OK! But why do I have to slow down timings and mhz when I use 2 cards? 1 card runns great on 4-4-4-12 800 mhz... Thank you!

Because we are trying to debug the problem.

It's possible there is a compatibility issue with this RAM on this board.

It's also possible your memory sticks may not be identical or may not be able to run at 800MHz DDR correctly.

Here's the RAM they have tested the board with:

http://www2.abit.com.tw/test_report/NI8%20SLI/

They did NOT test it with 800MHz DDR but they DID test 533, 667, 700 and 1000

Certain chipsets cannot run certain DIMMs at certain frequencies.

Which DIMM slots have you tried?

ยท Due to chipset limitation, 128MB DIMM modules or double-sided x16 memory chips are not
supported.

Your 1GB DIMMs are probably double sided and may not be fully supported.

Dual Channel sometimes does not work properly with Double Sided Modules.

Have you tried the sticks together in Single Channel?
