Hi.

Well, here we go again. . .

Here is a list of problems I have with my Thinpad 600E 2645 58G:

1. Datafab PC Card / PCMCIA smartmedia adapter not showing as a drive. The
device installs as a Standard IDE / EIDE Hard Disk Controller, it's not
conflicting with any other device but it can't find any free I / O resources
(code 12). Have run the troubleshooter, tells me to contact the maker. The
early stages of this problem were posted previously in W98 file / disk
management, have been advised to request support from manufacturer but have
been waiting over a week no reply to several support requests. Any
suggestions welcome.

2. Ultrabay HDD adapter 05K5338 for 2nd HDD recently acquired, have
installed all required updates but can't boot when fitted, just goes to BIOS
password request, there is no password set but I can't get in. Can boot as
usual when cdrom fitted in bay instead. System says it allows warm-swapping
even though I have installed update for hot-swapping. The 2nd HDD is not
passworded, it reads fine when attached via USB caddy. It's a 20 gig
Travelstar, haven't found any jumpers to set, presume this is done in the
BIOS ?

I have a device conflict (see recent Device Manager Paradox post in this
group) but it does not seem to be contributing to my problems as described
above.

Running 98se, latest BIOS installed but unable to get in and configure.

More information available on request, as is email address if it helps.

So, who's up for another session?

Stefaroo
