Hi,

If I have a standard Sata drive connector on my motherboard..........can I connect a Sata II drive and have it work? I understand that it might only operate as a Sata drive but I am thinking of the future for when I upgrade, if I can run the Sata II now then I can carry the data over to my next PC if that makes sense.

What do you think?

Thanks

Darren

Yes, the drive will function absolutely fine. I don't believe you'll notice any issues at all.

Thanks, that's great news.

You might have to set a juper to make the sata2 hardrive work with a sata1 controller chip.

I have a seagate sata drive sata2 and had to do this , sadly this extremly smal jumper was not in place when i bought the drive , så i made one.

Seagate jumper setting
