It could be a number of things : Graphics card, hard disk,
motherboard.
Given the SPOOL32 error when you try Normal Mode I'd see if you can
borrow a second-hand graphics card and try to boot into Safe Mode with
that second-hand graphics card. If that works, then you've got your
solution.
If it does not then I do not think a corrupted registry is the course
but rather a more serious hardware problem like hard disk,
motherboard, or both.

I am unable to get into safe mode too. It simply hangs with the "safe
mode"
in each of the four corners.
