Every time I go into control panel, network, to check my wireless adapter,
even though I don't change anything, after I close the network window a file
transfer window pops up and copies NDIS.VXD from a CAB file to the windows
system directory.
I believe this may have something to do with an intermittent wireless
disconnect problem which linksys has been unable to help fix, and also a
hang on shutdown when the wireless disconnect problem occurs.
Its a linksys WUSB11 version 4 adapter, Win98SE, NDIS.VXD version 4.10.2222
8/22/2000
This same problem exists on two Win98SE PC's both using its own wusb11
adapter.
Hope someone can help, Its been a nightmare trying to get a steady
connection.

Any time you click "OK" in the Network Applet, it's going to reinstall
whatever items you have there. Especially here, but also as a general rule,
whenever you are in such a dialogue in Windows and you don't change
anything, press Cancel to exit, or us the red X at upper right.

My question is: What causes you to go into Network applet in the first
place? Are you going there because the connection failed? If so, how could
the "reinstall" that occurs when you click OK be causing the problem (the
one that already existed at that point?)

I think you need to back up a bit and more accurately explain the disconnect
issue, when it happens, what common conditions you can identify, if any,
what the Linksys support people suggested (even if it fails to remedy the
issue), etc. So far, you've only described two events (the NDIS reinstall
and the Shutdown problem) which both seem to me to be after-effects, at
best, not in any way causative of the disconnect problem.
