Hi there guys,

Are PCI-X slots compatible with regular PCI cards?
So, for instance, could you plug a regular 10/100 Ethernet Card (or any other double-notch PCI card) into a PCI-X Slot.

Specifically, in the case of the Gigabyte 2ECWH Motherboard?

I realise the notches in regular PCI cards (and AGP cards for that matter) are a way to prevent a user from installing a card that has different voltage requirements - but what are they specifically?

Thanks,

Paul

PCI-X is backwards compatible with PCI. A PCI card with 2 slits will work at either 3.3v or 5v, a card with a slit towards the front will work at 3.3v and a card with a slit towards the end will work at 5v.

Thanks. That's a most concise answer.
Much appreciated.
